Message from the Head of Department

It is my privilege to welcome you to the Department of Humanities and Arts at Lahore Garrison University—an academic platform dedicated to fostering intellectual growth through interdisciplinary engagement and humanistic inquiry.

The department was established with a clear vision: to integrate diverse disciplines and create a dynamic academic environment that responds to the evolving needs of contemporary education. By bringing together the fields of International Relations & Political Science, Islamic Studies, and Urdu, we have cultivated a space that values both tradition and innovation.

At present, the department continues to uphold its academic commitments through ongoing programs, including PhD and MPhil degrees in Islamic Studies and Urdu, as well as undergraduate semesters in International Relations. These programs reflect our longstanding dedication to academic excellence and scholarly development.

As we move forward, the department is undergoing a strategic academic transition. While current cohorts are being supported to successful completion of their degrees, future admissions in these standalone programs have been concluded. This step marks an intentional shift toward strengthening our role as a fully interdisciplinary department within the university.

In this capacity, we proudly serve as a central academic resource, offering a wide array of allied and interdisciplinary courses across multiple faculties. Our curriculum spans areas such as Quranic Studies, Pakistan Studies, International Relations and Current Affairs, World History, Philosophy, Global Governance, Public Policy, Blue Economy, Emerging and Disruptive Technologies, and Comparative Foreign Policies of Great Powers. Through these offerings, we aim to equip students with critical thinking skills, ethical awareness, and a comprehensive understanding of both local and global challenges.

Our focus is not only on imparting knowledge but also on nurturing well-rounded individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society. The Department of Humanities and Arts at Lahore Garrison University was established as a forward-looking academic initiative aimed at fostering interdisciplinary learning and intellectual integration across diverse fields of study. Formed through the amalgamation of the disciplines of International Relations & Political Science, Islamic Studies, and Urdu, the department represents a cohesive academic platform designed to revitalize and reposition these foundational fields within a modern educational framework.

These include Quranic Studies, Pakistan Studies, Ideology and Constitution of Pakistan, International Relations and Current Affairs, and Social Work Practices, alongside a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary offerings such as World History, Introduction to Philosophy, State and Society, Global Governance, Public Policy, Blue Economy, Emerging and Disruptive Technologies, and Comparative Foreign Policies of Great Powers.
