Lahore Garrison University News Bulletin – Summary
Lahore Garrison University (LGU) continues to promote excellence in academics, sports, professional development, and social responsibility. The university recently celebrated the outstanding achievements of its students in international Mixed Martial Arts competitions held in Angola, Africa. Manisha and Maliha secured gold and silver medals, respectively, bringing pride to the university and Pakistan. Upon their return, the students received a warm welcome from the university community. They credited their success to the support of the university administration, their coaches, and the Vice Chancellor, Major General (Retd.) Khalil Dar. Their achievement reflects the importance of discipline, dedication, and consistent training in reaching international standards.
To strengthen the connection between academic learning and practical business opportunities, LGU organised a special guest speaker session focusing on final-year projects, entrepreneurship, and incubation. Ms. Nadia Nadeem, Manager of the Incubation Wing at the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), attended as the guest speaker. She guided students on transforming academic projects into commercially viable ideas and aligning them with industry requirements. Students from Cohort 8 and Cohort 9 participated in the session, which aimed to encourage innovation, develop entrepreneurial skills, and strengthen cooperation between academic departments and the incubation sector.
LGU also organised a road safety seminar and a motorcycle riding training workshop for women at the Jinnah Auditorium, in collaboration with the National Highways and Motorway Police and Atlas Honda. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about traffic regulations, responsible driving, and essential road safety measures. Speakers highlighted the importance of wearing helmets, using side mirrors, and following traffic laws to reduce road accidents. Special attention was given to training female students to ride motorcycles confidently and safely. Following the event, a free motorcycle inspection camp was arranged in the university parking area, where essential components, including brakes, headlights, indicators, tail lights, and side mirrors, were inspected, with free replacement facilities provided for faulty parts.
The university further demonstrated its commitment to students’ professional development by organising a training session under the theme of Industrial Linkages and Outreach. Titled “Your Resume, Your First Impression: Get It Right,” the session focused on the importance of preparing an effective and professional CV. Participants included students from the fifth to eighth semesters of BBA and BSAF, MBA students, and faculty members from the Department of Management Sciences. Guest speakers Fanaht Zahid and Taimoor Bashir explained the fundamental principles of CV writing, highlighting the importance of presenting relevant skills, qualifications, and achievements clearly. The session aimed to equip students with practical knowledge to improve their employability and prepare for professional opportunities.
Through these initiatives, Lahore Garrison University continues to provide students with opportunities to excel beyond the classroom. International sporting achievements, entrepreneurship-focused sessions, road safety awareness, and professional training reflect the university’s broader commitment to developing skilled, confident, and responsible individuals. Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Major General (Retd.) Khalil Dar, LGU seeks to strengthen students’ academic and practical abilities while encouraging discipline, innovation, and civic responsibility. These efforts contribute to the university’s mission of preparing graduates who can make meaningful contributions to their professions and society.
